If you talk to business owners about cost, they don’t only look at the rand value of it, they look at the ROI or how long it will take for the cost to pay for itself. Let’s look at how long SEO takes to pay for itself in this example:

Let’s say you are a family lawyer and you are in Pretoria. You can service the Gauteng region with your service. Let’s also assume you take the growth package at R5, 000 per month. Let’s also assume that you already have a website and that you just want Orcanically to optimise it for you. We’re also assuming that you will see a new client an average of 5 times at R500 per hour.

Searches for family lawyer in Pretoria and Johannesburg with purchase intent has 750 searches per month. These keywords also have very low competition. This means that if you rank number 1 for these keywords you will have around 250 qualified prospects visit your website every month. Let’s say you only close around 5% of these (which is pretty low for such high intent keywords). You will get 12 new clients per month once you reach the number one spot for these keywords.

So in this example, which is for a set of very easy keywords, it takes us 10 months to get the business to position number 1. This is where the volumes are.

We have combined month 1-7 since all the action only starts happening in month 8. In month 8 we get to keyword position 5 on Google. And in month 9 we get to position 3, in month 10 to position 1 and then we stay in position 1 since then.

New client income shows the income received from new clients that we generate for your business from our SEO services. Note that you only start to receive income from SEO around month 8. But once you get to the top 5 positions on Google for your service and then to position 1 you can really see the value of doing SEO on your website. That is why SEO only works over the long term.
